Hopewell Colliery

Now a museum as well as a working colliery, miners have heard footsteps heading towards them; as a joke, they decided to hide and jump out on their visitor but when the footsteps reached them, no-one was there. There are apparently a few other stories of inexplicable events down the mine.

Update: 27/2/20 Hopewell colliery replied to my email, stating that, "The only thing I can remember is on one occasion visitors hearing footsteps. However the environment is so suggestive it would be difficult to establish any other reason."
