Eardisland Bridge

Eardisland, Herefordshire HR6 9BT

Cars have been reported to break down and horses bolt when crossing this bridge; many years ago, people, horses and carriages were thrown into the river until a ceremony incarcerated the spirit in a silver box under the bridge.

Update 13/4/26: Researcher Greg Hardman informs me, "The bridge in Eardisland that spans the river Arrow is reputedly haunted by a "White Lady". Local lore suggests this entity is responsible for pulling travellers into the water, with stories emphasising that horses have historically been wary of crossing the bridge, indicating a lingering, eerie presence. The White Lady is also allegedly seen around the village, apparently she is a mysterious figure unrecognisable to the locals. She has often been seen strolling along the village in a snobbish way, with a proud and almost arrogant look on her face."
