The Scole Inn

There is said to be the spectral sound of galloping hooves, thought to be the ghostly residue of a highwayman who rode through this site in an attempt to evade capture. Another phantom is a bloodied ghost, seen since the 18th century. Her name is said to be "Emma", killed in a jealous rage by her husband.

Ghost researcher Greg Hardman told me in May 2024 of a visit to this inn; "...no new news/sightings of the ghost Emma or the Phantom horse hooves..but I spoke to the head housekeeper who has worked there for over 20yrs. She told me that Room 12 was where a pair of twins died in a fire at some point in the past ...she was in the enquire bathroom tidy up one morning when she felt some one grab her by the shoulder, she turned around thinking it was a work colleague only to find she was alone in the room...there is also the smell of burning in the room from time to time. The cleaners refuse to work in there alone now, and I actually saw that for myself with 4 of them going in there this morning."
