Rainthorpe HallTasburgh, Norfolk NR15 1RQ In the early evening of September 8, two phantoms are said to meet in the gardens. The first is said to be Amy Dudley (nee Robsart), who died on that day in 1560, aged 28, when she fell down a flight of stairs at her home at Cumnor Place in Oxfordshire (though there are some suggestions that she was murdered). Although some sources suggested that she grew up at Rainthorpe Hall, it is likely that she lived nearby and was merely an occasional visitor. The other phantom is either her husband Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, or half brother John Appleyard. Link: Wales Online |
