Bury's Hall

It was said that, many years ago, the ghost of a young lady or girl would meet a similarly spectral Catholic priest and the two would wander around the gardenbefore returning. However, the claimed identity of the priest (said to have been murdered by Cromwellian forces at Easter time) is not mentioned in historical documents. When a hidden room containing a Bible and a pink and cream dress was found the visual apparitions ceased.
However, there have been a mulitutude of other phenomena, mainly poltergeist phenomena. These include a wine bottle lifting up and tipping its contents onto a dinner table, a ghost that left a trail of one-legged footprints and set off a burglar alarm when it "hopped" through a closed door, a dark form in a bedroom accompanied by a swishing sound like taffeta, and many reports of ghostly behaviour in "The Green Room". Although the building is now a private home, there were stories during the buildings time as a hotel and uncorroborated tales following this period.
