Hare Arms

The ghost is said to be a former landlord named Capon who hanged himself after suffering from rheumatism. Phenomena noted here include footsteps on empty stairs, items moving, ornaments breaking, and problems with electrical equipment such as power cuts and problems with lighting. These seem to occur to when the owners are absent for a length of time. One manager has sensed presences in the lounge, office and bedrooms. Indeed, it was while in the lounge that an employee had rested a cup of tea on the floor when it began to shake as if something was walking on the floorboards. He was also working in the 1st floor office above the bar when he heard a clear voice behind him asking in a strong Norfolk accent if he was OK. Naturally, there was no-one there when he turned to look. In the toilets, a visitor saw "a wisp of writhing blackness" in the mirror behind him and soon afterwards smelt "a strong, unpleasant odour, like bad breath" and then hearing French-sounding words in his head.
