The Duke's Head Hotel

Both ghosts here are suicide victims. The "Red Lady" (in a suitable coloured dress) walks along corridors and up and down the staircase; she allegedly found it impossible to choose between two men. The other ghost is a tall man in white who shot himself in the head after he accumulated large gambling debts. However, his attempt was unsuccessful and he later died of his wounds in room 18. There may be other phantoms too - a lady who (used to?) walk down the very old staircase, a figure resembling a stereotypical witch in the old staff quarters at the top of the hotel (now guest rooms) and a lady seen in the area of the lounge and restaurant, although there are conflicting stories about her age.
