St Mary The Virgin Church

Church Plain, Worstead, Norwich, Norfolk NR28 9AL

A melancholy lady has been seen kneeling near the font; a legend also says that the bells were rung on Christmas Eve to frighten off the "White Lady." One year a local lad ascended the towers before the bells pealed and when all went silent, his friends clambered up where they were told, "I've seen her" - before the lad died. The bells were rung with vigour that night. The local rector says the ghost usually appears when their is sickness about.
