The Black Horse

Lynn Road, Castle Rising, King's Lynn PE31 6AG
01553 631594

In 1997, a dark haired woman, wearing clothing from the 1940s and described as walking purposefully from the bar to the restaurant started to be seen; she was sometimes described as “fuzzy” and suddenly disappeared from view. Another phantom seen at the same time is of an old man, wearing a dark suit and cloth cap who sat at a table or in the doorway. Both these ghosts were only visible to staff. Other phenomena include glasses falling from shelves, drinks being knocked over and a crash that came from a storeroom, without explanation. 14 years later, two small children, a boy and a girl were also noted in the pub, playing with little wooden toys under a table. The story is that these children perished in a fire, and it was noted that the girl phantom sometimes had a burnt dolly with her.
