Blithfield Hall

The sound of clothes dragging (a monk's habit or a skirt or dress?) has been heard in the hall between 11pm and midnight, and a spectre seen in the lower gallery. A "Grey Lady" walks here too, wearing a lace cap and a large bunch of keys hanging from her waist; she does not seem to have been seen for some time now. Another phantom is a lady wearing darker clothes with a cape. A male ghost was once observed in the drawing room, looking out of a 1st floor window according to some versions of the story. He was described as twisting a ring on his right hand and faded as he was approached. In the grounds is said to be a young boy who fell down a well, whose screams have been heard echoing, and a man wringing his hands; the sounds of the boy have not been heard "within living memory", but connected with this story is the sight of an old man who has been observed slipping into the (now filled in) hole in the ground - he may the man "wringing his hands" as mentioned above. Also in the grounds is a women wearing a long frock, straw bonnet and grey shawl; she is only ever seen from a distance and fades away when she is approached. It should be borne in mind that some of the accounts above may be duplicates.
