Post Office

Although now a post office, in the past this building used to be a hotel known as The Corbet Arms." It was in this guise that the paranormal events originate; it is not known if they persist. A chambermaid fell in love with a frequent guest but when he stopped visiting she found herself pregnant and was dismissed from service. She killed herself in the old room 7. Men who have stopped in the room felt their bottoms pinched, being kissed and having their bedclothes pulled off them, and some women have claimed to have seen the maid hanging from a beam. Elsewhere, a smiling lady holding a baby has been seen in the cellar (where rings that have been reported missing have been found), and footsteps heard in the ballroom and back stairs.

Ruth Roper Wylde also reports that in its hotel days, the "Lady in White" was rarely seen, but whose running footsteps were heard. In room 7, a chambermaid felt something lift up the hair from her neck. At Christmas time, footsteps were heard and pine needles on the floor were scattered by "invisible feet." At this point, the photocopier/printer started ejecting paper.
