On March 16th 2022, I spoke to Ann Madarbakus about her time as landlady of the Loudon Arms, from 2008 to 2009. She said that the building was quite active with the gas supply in the cellar for the beers frequently being turned off. On two or three occasion, she would find John Smith's beer glasses had been removed from the shelf and found upright on the floor - but never broken. On one occasion, she was walking through the entrance behind the bar to the kitchen when she felt someone pull her back by her blouse; a barworker was even witness to this event, seeing her blouse being lifted up by something invisible. A series of perplexing events used to happen in the ladies toilets, where the cubicle was regularly found to be bolted from inside, usually in the mornings. Her nephew, being so small, had to be pushed into the cubicle from underneath to unbolt the door but when he complained after a number of occasions saying "this isn't funny anymore!" the phenomena ceased. A couple of other experiences were related by Ann; things would be put down and then found to have vanished moments later (sometimes they returned but from time to time items, such as small silver measures used for spirits, didn't come back); sometimes a shadowy figure would be observed out of the corner of the eye; and she also heard the sound of someone walking on the landing. As usual, there was no-one there upon investigation. It is not known if phenomena occurs here in its new guise as a daycare centre.
