The Black Horse (Closed)

272 Old Liverpool Road, Sankey Bridges, Warrington, Cheshire WA5 1DZ

During the Civil War, the building was a stabling yard and the proprietor, a blacksmith called Giles Boston, was shot in the chest when Cavaliers tried to take his horses. He crawled out in the road but died before he was noticed. A man holding a hand to his chest has been seen outside the pub and a few centuries ago, a man in the pub was awakened by loud knocking - to find a man in great pain on his doorstep, but who vanished before anything could be done.
