Emily Bronte, who worked here as a governess, is spectrally associated with this house; a shadowy figure looking out of a window on the top floor, and the sound of moving chairs and tables at 12.30pm every Sunday have been reported, as has poltergeist-like behaviour of doors opening, and dogs have reacted to something invisible.
