Ethel Lillie Brown, who was hanged here for murdering her husband in 1934, has been identified by some as the female ghost who walks the grounds, especially the area where she was executed and where she was held prior to her death. Prison dogs have reacted in "a strange way" in the buildings and a warden was petrified when something tugged on his jacket and heard a female voice - in an all-male prison!
