The Midland Hotel

The lift is said to ascend and descend of its own accord. A 2025 paper talks of "a thin, ghostly figure observed within the lift."

Update 20/1/24: Beau Irwin, the Hotel Assistant Manager replied to my query about any recent occurrences: "We certainly have had sighting's here ... The hotel was closed and used as a RAF hospital during the second world war. And they used the downstairs as a mortuary so definitely sightings have been had at the hotel and there's history of such occurrences. Specifics of these sightings are rare, but not uncommon and I'm afraid there isn't much in terms of record of these occurrences."
