The Grand Hotel

Members of the Uncanny Fans facebook page note many instances of strange phenomena here. There are a lot of reports of someone knocking on guests doors but no one was there. In addition, there are stories of a lady in a red dress who appeared from nowhere, as well as whistling and other strange noises in empty corridors and shadow figures. The lady's toilets in the reception have had some stories from patrons that they had heard toilets flushing, "doors clanging" etc but the room was empty when the witnesses left their cubicles. A guest in the south-eastern turret heard banging on the round window, and then saw "weird lights" moving across the ceiling and going through the wall. In May 2026, another guest in the north-east turret heard a "vigorous banging which sounded like someone hammering on the door" but no-one was there; later on the same witness was in the bathroom when she heard a loud clattering, like a maid's trolley but when she put her hand on the door the sound stopped and again, there no-one was present. Soon afterwards, the witness heard footsteps above her head in the roof space, and weighty things being dropped on the ceiling.
